So many good things happen when I stay clean and sober. The gifts are priceless. It is so freeing to not have something take over my mind and run with it for days. Even when I find myself start to give the stinking thinking a gateway into my life, I have been given the awareness to recognize it for what it is and I can turn it over and ask for help. I always try to say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you," for the little things because I know they are all gifts from my God. As Jamie Sams says, "Give thanks, it is already on it's way!" One of the things I have been thinking about is Chinese Food. I cooked chicken but didn't do the rice with it so it is my own fault or should I say my own denial and wanted what I call "The real thing!" and substituting my thing just doesn't measure up. Chinese restaurant food is loaded with salt and—if you’re not careful—delivers a load of calories, thanks to its oil, noodles, and deep-fried batter or breading. Daily Limits (for a 2,000-calorie diet): Saturated Fat: 20 grams. Sodium: 1,500 milligrams. The link below is for a guide to a few dozen popular dinner-size dishes from a typical Chinese restuarant menu... it blew me away! www.cspinet.org/nah/chinese.htmlFound a nifty recipe for: Chicken Gyros This is an easy to make and low sodium version of the classic Greek sandwich. Many markets carry unsalted pita bread or you can find them online at Salt Watcher... www.salthingycher.com. 2 Boneless Chicken Breasts, Cut In 1/2 " Strips 2 T Low Sodium Catsup 2 T Olive Oil 1 1/2 t White Wine Vinegar 1 t Oregano 1 t Dry Mustard 1 1/2 t Curry Powder 4 Pita Bread,Cut In Half 1 1/2 c Lettuce,Shredded 1/2 c Tomatoes,Chopped 1 c Plain Yogurt Place the chicken strips side by side in a glass baking dish. Stir together the ketchup, olive oil, white wine vinegar, oregano, mustard powder and curry powder. Pour over the chicken in the dish. Allow the chicken to marinate while you preheat the oven's broiler. Broil uncovered for 15 minutes with the meat about 6 inches from the heat. Just until the chicken is cooked through, but not browned. Place hot chicken into pita pockets and sthingy some of the juices from the pan over it. Top with lettuce, tomato and yogurt (I mince cucumbers very fine and add to yougurt). Have a great day, SG

Thanks SG, I dont do it often. Now that I have moved there is a good restaurant two blocks away. Recently a friend mentioned pizza and it stayed in my head for several days. I liked the thought and picture of single pepperoni, double mushrooms, and extra cheese. Since I moved, I have had a desire for a good cheeseburger. My son came yesterday and wheeled me down stairs to the cafeteria, and I got my burger with cheese and bacon.
Always give thanks. Went hungry for several years, so I keep my cupboards and refrigerator stocked.
