This is actually a quote from a chain letter I received. I could identify with it when I look at my life and my relationship with the addict(s) in my life. I have to remember to turn them over to their Higher Power. It talks about doing something I never did before. What I was never able to do before recovery was to live my own life and let them live theirs. Attachments:

Shared with a friend who called me today, because of her worry about her son and her grandchildren and how his addiction will affect them over the holiday. I reminded her of our powerlessness over our sons (my own in active addiction) and all we could do was pray and turn them over to THEIR God.

The key is to live our own lives, and detach from people, places and things, that take me out of myself and diverts me from my recovery needs. I can get so caught up in others and not do what I need for my own health and well being. It is good to do service, but not to the extent that I don't have time to work and live my own program.
