D is for Dear. It is important to connect with the people who are special in my life. Many times during my recovery, my family was recovery people because I had to detach from my blood family. It was also important to be gentle with myseLf. Not be so hard on myself and remember that I am deserving of recovery and TLC.

L is for Laughter. Learning to laugh at myself and not take myself so seriously was one of the greatest gifts of recovery. I will never forget the first time I felt the laughter and was able to put my hand on my stomach and know it was real not contrived, not for show, not for acceptance, approval, validation, or just because it was the thing to do and everyone else was doing it!

N is for No! What part of "No" don't you understand? When I learned to say 'no' I had to make sure I kept things at a balance and not say 'no' to everything just because I could.

P is for Promises. We are promised twelve promises and that they will come true before we are half way through working the Steps. Did you ever look at all the promises of recovery on the early pages of the Big Book? I believe I heard that there were over 40 listed there.
