LOYAL - DISLOYAL
"Much as we would like, we cannot bring everyone with us on this journey called recovery. We are not being disloyal by allowing ourselves to move forward. We don't have to wait for those we love to decide to change as well." - - Melody Beattie
I did in fact feel disloyal when I first began this road to recovery and my addicted loved ones felt the same. In the past I went to any length to "save" them, I know today that I was not helping but hurting them in the long run. I no longer "help" them out of self-imposed problems they create. We can all set the boundaries we need and want to set with family members without being disloyal to the family. This is the beginning of our recovery....
"If we pray why worry, if we worry why pray!" When I allow fear and worry to enter my life, it is disloyalty to God. It is a denial of His care and protection.... God has given me many gifts, not the least of which are values like honesty, respect, peace, and wholeness. I try always to show my loyaly to God and to myself as well! I am loyal to EOR and our meeting here at EOR, I want to give back to others what was given freely to me......
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

I need to be loyal to my program, because without me I have nothing. The dog depicts loyalty according to Jamie Sams. They are a sign of unconditional love. No matter what our loved ones do, we still love them. That doesn't mean we enable them. Enabling keeps them sick and by enabling, I am contributing to my own sickness.
