RESPONSIBLE - IRRESPONSIBLE
"The bottom line is that I am responsible for my own well-being, my own happiness. The choices and decisions I make regarding my life directly influence the quality of my days." —Kathleen Andrus
In the beginning of recovery, I had to learn how to be a grown up and act like a responsible person. I had help with this and God has been with me on this journey, every step of the way. For many years I had placed unreasonable expectation on my addicted loved ones and it was totally irresponsible of me to do this. Today I know they have a disease and I was responsible for changing no one but myself.
"The goal in recovery is to find the balance: we take responsibility for ourselves, and we identify our true responsibilities to others." - -Melodie Beattie
Each day gets a little easier, I no longer feel responsible for fixing other people. My goal is to work on any defects in my character and make myself a better person, thus finding the serenity that my life was lacking for so many years.
Peace on the journey, SunnyGirl

That is the same with anyone from any fellowship. The 12 Steps are a common denominator.
