Anger

No matter what substance I chose to pick up to stuff my feelings, it all amounted to the same thing. Not feeling my feelings. This is in alignment with my thoughts on the ABC Recovery thread. I need to feel the feeling to be able to let them go. I need to express the anger in healthy ways. What has worked for me was sharing them with a friend, with a warning and asking if she felt like being the recipient and respecting her space. Not fair to dump on her if she is having a bad day. Sometimes taking a walk or doing exercise is suggested but doesn't work all that well for me as I don't get up enough steam with my walker. Journalling is always good. Writing out the feelings and putting some order to them. There is also the thought of hitting a pillow or I guess if you are atheletic, go play some lacrosse, batminton, tennis, soccer, etc. I am sure you get the idea. Taking out on the ball not the opponent. The exericse would certainly do me the most good but don't always have the energy to do it.
