GOD,grant me the SERENITYto accept the things I cannot change,COURAGE to change the things I can, and the WISDOMto know the difference. When I first came into Alanon, the Serenity Prayer was my touch stone..... No matter what my qualifiers said or did, I knew I could find peace by taking a few moments alone to say this prayer with conviction. My Higher Power is always there for me, He is a loving God and hears and answer's my every prayer. I know that no matter where I am or what is going on around me, I can always count on Him to see me through it..... My recovery friends make me feel invincible, they have been where I am today and they survived. I draw strength from them..... I began this journey one step at a time, and I continue down this road one day at a time! Healing hugs and prayers for all of you, SunnyGirl

Thank you for sharing SG, I am so glad we can't wear the Serenity Prayer out. Without it, I am not sure I would have stayed sober. When I mean sober, I mean soundness of mind. I did not have much soundness of mind before I went to Al-Anon. I didn't drink but there were a lot of the old tapes playing. I went to Al-Anon to recognize them. While I was looking for tapes, I found me. So many times we say it in rote and don't listen to the words. It has meaning, it is powerful, and it can get our thinking back on track. Found this awesome site who prints things in caligraphy. www.inkmonkey.com/index.html

Always a good thought to remember, when all else fails, the Serenity Prayer is there. The link still works, which is surprising in and of itself.
