Life holds so many simple blessings, each day bringing its own individual wonder."
- John McLeod

Be grateful that you can enjoy them!

Gratitude is the key to unlocking a more open and rewarding perspective on life. Feelings of appreciation are always accompanied by the elevation of one's state of life and the broadening of one's perspective. And, the more our life expands, the more profound our sense of gratitude becomes, to the point where we can feel appreciation even for the problems we face in life."

You may be thinking that it is craziness to appreciate your problems! After all... they are called 'Problems' for a reason!
Think about it for a minute... Without problems, you would remain stagnant. There would be no growth. You could not (and would not) develop any further than you have. You would not be overcoming any obstacles. There would be no achievements.
Understand that it is a 'problem' for a young child to walk. When s/he is crawling around on the floor and sees everyone else walking upright, that little one has a huge problem. What if s/he gave up?
Enjoy your problems - there is more for you just past them!

Like this line. As I have said many times before, my sponsor says, "Don't call them problems, look at them as challenges. Challenges you can overcome, problems you can stay stuck in."

"We are so often caught up in our destination that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially the goodness of the people we meet on the way. Appreciation is a wonderful feeling, don't overlook it."
- Author Unknown
Are you enjoying your journey? Remember that the destination is not as important as the journey. Some say that it is more important what you become as you work towards your goals then it is the actual goal.

Be grateful for all you do have, rather than whining about what you don't have.
Graet and miraculous things come in small packages.

In daily life we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy.

Prayes of gratitude are especially good for alcoholics. They kill egoism and awaken us to life's true values. Try contacting God with thanks and appreciation. [from the Little Red Book; Step 11]

The best kind of giving is thanksgiving." - Chesterton Here in the US we are celebrating Thanksgiving, a day of... well, Giving Thanks! We have a day dedicated to be grateful. Wikipedia states it well: "Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While it may have been religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. It is sometimes casually referred to as Turkey Day." As usual, give thanks for family, friends, and everything you enjoy.

"Be like a postage stamp. Stick to it until you get there."
-- Harvey Mackay
I always feel good when I complete something. Whether it be patching the wall in my office (see the blog for more info if you are curious about that) or something as simple as writing a blog entry, I am grateful for following through on a task I start out to complete.
There are things that I start that do not get completed. I realize after I am into them that at some point it is no longer 'worth it' for me to complete. It may be due to the fact that I learned more about the project and I am no longer interested in it; it may be because I am not having a lot of fun. It could also be because it really does not fit into my overall plan.
The key is to determine why you want to abandon a project - it is because it is too much work? It is because it is not going to serve you well? It is a good reason to abandon ship? Or is it a selfish reason?
Whatever the case, you should stay the course until you complete it, or decide to leave it.
