The reading in today's NA Just For Today book talks about attitude. Courage to Change from Al-Anon also touches on it. Today's Reminder: There is something for me to learn from every interaction I have with other people. I will make an extra effort today to take note of the attitudes I'm giving and receiving because they both can teach me about myself. If I am not mistaken, it says in the Big Book, "Changed attitudes can bring about recovery." It takes one to know one they say. I know I had a major chip on my shoulder that had to come off. Like the brick wall, it was chipped away, a day at a time. The best way to adjust my attitude is to go to a meeting.

What do I need to change about me and my attitudes. The biggest one was "My way is the right way" and no more telling people to hit the highway. What ever way I look at it, it generally needs changing. eor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Tiger&action=display&thread=1861It is also important for me to have an attitude of gratitude. It is one thing to say I am grateful, another one to show it.

Every great mistake has a halfway moment, a split second when it can be recalled and perhaps remedied. --Pearl S. Buck
Being the 'perfectionist', always made mistakes a reason to beat myself up, because of the old tapes running around in my head:
1) If you can't do it the right way, don't bother
2) If you weren't so stupid....
3) Didn't I tell you...
4) How many times do I have to show you?
It was a real gift to learn that although I made mistakes, I wasn't one. The thought of being 'merely' human or even worse 'normal' was unheard of. Better was good, best was always the goal, less than never an option.
This quote speaks to me of the fact that in today I have a Higher Power who will lead and direct me. When I am heading in the wrong direction, make the wrong choice for my "Higher Good", then I am given that moment if I am open to hearing and listening, to stop and rethink and change my mind. When we live in the day and in the moment, a day can start anytime. A new choice and a new directions makes for a new twenty-four hours.
It is important to start each day with a positive attitude instead of being a defeatest and staying in the negative.

What needs to be changed in me and in my attitudes. Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character. Albert Einstein Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Thomas Jefferson Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Winston Churchill
