Just for today, I will accept where I am at. I stopped taking the pill the doctor ordered but I got shaking so bad and feeling bad as well, I tried taking the pill last night. I slept for 9 hours and then went back to bed again and got woke up by the phone. That is good, but normal for me. I felt numb all day. It is suppose to heal the nerve damage in my body. Numbing it doesn't seem to be the solution, especially when my head feels numb too. I am going to phone the doctor tomorrow, because the rain is suppose to stop and see if I can get in to see him to discuss it. I am very fearful of the long list of the symptoms you may get from taking it. The last time I tried I had nausea and headaches, but I have been having the headaches most of the time anyway. It is still my morning and I want to go back to bed.

LOL JO! I know what you mean. On tv they will talk about a new drug that just came out and the side effects are way worse then the original problem! That scares the crap out of me to where I will just put up with the problem rather then the solution!!!---Baffled Bunnypie

Just for today, I will know a new freedom and a new happiness. That is the first Promise, and all I wanted from recovery. I got that and so much more. The Promises gave me hope. If I lose hope in today, all I have to do is go back to the 12 Promises and know that this too shall pass. eor.proboards.com/thread/973/twelve-promises-long-form

the promises are what got me thru the 9th step. I wanted them and was willing to work for them. Some came quickly some slowly but they will always materialize if we work for them!

Just for today, I will lower my expectations. I nurtured and cooked my chili and it doesn't taste as good as I thought it should after all my loving care. Hopefully, the saying is true! It always tastes better the next day.

Don't they call that "marinate" ? Bunnypie

Not to my way of thinking, just cooked low and slow. When you marinate, it is before you put it in the pot. Like getting pickled and then jumping into the stew pot.

Sorry! I don't understand cooking techniques. If it tastes good eat it! If it doesn't taste good don't eat it! That is my method of operation. Baffled Bunnypie

No need to be sorry. Marinating meat is oil and vinegar/lemon (something acidic) with spices and you marinate your meat in it to make it tender and add flavour to it. You can put dried or fresh spices, and I always use garlic. It can be overnight or just 30 minutes, depending on your cut of meat and the time you have.
I browned my hamburg and onions, added spice to it before it cooked then added more when I put in the tomatoes and red kidney beans and pork and beans. Salt is always a must as far as I am concerned, but I have to be careful if I have swollen feet, salt causes water retention.

Just for today, I will practice my program to the best of my ability. If I fall short, I will ask my God to remove my shortcomings. I will do a Step Ten and get honest with myself. If I can't be honest with me, I can't be honest with others. As the Al-Anon slogan says, "Let it begin with me." It isn't about what you or you did, it is about me and my attitude.

Ah Yes! Let it begin with me!!! That is a great concept. That is compatible with the Responsibility Declaration of AA which says I am responsible when anyone anywhere reaches out for help I want the hand of AA to always be there. And for that I am responsible. these 2 concepts are not easy to live up to. At least not for this alcoholic!!! Bunnypie

Just for today, I will have patience and tolerant. For me, I can't have one without the other. I e-mailed my friend John about my computer and he replied that he would try to make time this weekend. It keeps freezing on me and I have to fight it every time I try to post, so if you don't hear from me, you know he hasn't been here and/or I gave up trying to post before it is fixed.

Just for today, when my body says "more" I will turn a deaf ear. Today I wanted more sleep, wanted more food, but most of all more cranberry bran muffins. As they say, "Play the tape to the end, look at the whole picture." If I do that, I will know that I won't have to play Queen of the House tomorrow and sit all day on my throne.

Just for today, I will try to organize my time to get the things done that I need to do. I will not procrastinate, and I will ask myself, "First things first! What is a Priority here." I will not run away from home. I will not run to my bed. I will say, "How important is it?" Then I will go to my bed and then to the library.

Hey Jo---First Things First is a great slogan to get things in priority. I got some corn beef, potatoes, carrots, & onions chopped and in the crock pot while laundry was going. I tried on a few outfits for Easter. I go to church on Easter & Christmas and like to have a nice outfit ready to wear to "God's House" I want to vacuum and dust today too. The food & clothes were "first things first" for me. I am getting tired and ready for a 2 hour nap. Got to get the last load of laundry done and definitely consider it! Bushed Bunnypie

Made it to the library and to the work shop where they have volunteers who will help you with your computer. The guy said it was more the fact that the site is slow because of so much material and pictures on the site. The site needs a good housecleaning.

Does the web master do that? is it like cookies & defrag? I am just learning how to do that kind of maintenance stuff on my desk top computer. I was told it should be done once a week to keep it moving faster.....
