Oh Jo!----Dr Bob the co-founder of AA called people he worked with and 12 stepped "pigeons" He claimed the pigeon is a real intelligent bird that can be taught a lot of tricks. there is also the homing pigeon that always knows his way home. It might be the ghost of Dr Bob sending all these symbolic pigeons to you??? Maybe you are suppose to teach them tricks??? Just an idea!!! Only an idea!!! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Bunnypie

Pigeon is a dirty word and they sh*t everywhere. I had and can still get a major resentment when I hear long-timers call newcomers pigeons. For me, it is derogatory and people who are new, don't need the put down that the word emplies. I don't see them as so smart, devious and thieving, and that is the way we were, not the way we want to be addressed in recovery. As they say, "What do you get when you sober up a drunkin' horse thief. A horse thief, unless he wants to work the program and change his ways.
They always seem to find their way to my home and I don't like it, especially when they mess up my balcony. I go out and bang a shoe against the railing. I laughed today while I was waiting for a bus today, a pigeon came up close to me. It got so far and stopped, I wondered if he could sense my energy. I did tell it to get it's butt away from me. They not only pooped on my balcony, they pooped on me. I can be full of sh*t myself, don't need theirs. LOL!

Can you get your building management to put down poison pigeon bird food? Do they have special cleaner fluid you can use to clean off pigeon sh*t? I am betting you are not the only tenant with a problem!!! Do you have gun? Can you shoot them when you see them?! What do you animal magic cards say about pigeons? could this be some kind of a spiritual signal to you? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) These are just a few questions that I would try to find answers to!!!!---Bunnypie

My book by D. J. Conway, has the Dove and the Pigeon in the same section. It is about connecting with spirits that have passed on. Not my thing, but I can see the Dove as the positive and going to heaven and the Pigeon for those who don't make it there. LOL!

Well there ya go! You are being haunted by spirits that didn't make it!! Maybe they need you to help them move on??? They might be coming to you for that extra "push" to where they need to go??? It is possible........

There is no way I want to commune with those who have passed on, be it heaven or hell, they are where they are as a result of decisions that they made. I am more apt to give them a kick in the ass than a little push. I could be pushing them in the wrong direction.

Just for today, I will respect myself and others. It has to begin with me. Respect is something that is earned, it is not always freely given. For many years, I thought that I respected my elders and people in authority, since coming into recovery, I can see where they are coming from. I always try to see if someone is walking their talk. Words mean nothing if they are not followed by action. ![](http://www.100pies.net/Gifs/Animales/Conejos/conejo108.gif)

Dr Bob's wife Anne Smith was real fond of the phrase Faith without works is dead. She was a great motivator to Bill & Bob to get the program started and moving. you are saying the same thing in different words "walking the talk"------Bunnypie

Just for today, I will remind myself that SIN, means soul in need. When I find myself getting needy, I need to make sure that I feed my body, mind, and spirit. I need to work the Steps on all levels in order to recover. When I get needy, I get greedy and I have to be watchful of what I do to feed my feelings or let them go. Just because I make a mistake, doesn't mean I am one. It isn't something that I need to carry with me, I need to turn it over to my Higher Power and let go and let MY God do for me what I can't do for myself. ![](http://bestanimations.com/Animals/Birds/Penguins/Penguin-cartoon-animation.gif)

Reading the 12 promises from page 83-83 really help me to get centered and have a good "personal inventory" I LOVE the last promise of "God will do for me what I can't do for myself" It shows that God has my back and is taking care of me. If any of the 12 promises have not really come true for me (or not it a while) that is a good way to find out where I am at. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows has been one of the promises I really have been looking at. I try to respond to you & Lin on this site as quickly & often as I can to help with that promise. This site is a good way for me to work the program when I can't make meetings and I just hope I can keep it going. Like I said the "buddy system" of being alert to virus is so d**n important!!! I thank you so much for staying in touch. I means the world to me!!! Hugs & Stuff-------Grateful Bunnypie

The promises were what kept me coming back and not giving up on myself, no matter what happened in my recovery. I only wanted the first one, "We will know a new freedom and happiness." As it says, "We are surprised before we are half way through...," the rest of the promises come true as well. What a wonderful blessing and gift they are.

Just for today, I will allow myself to be happy. I will not allow my pain to rule my life. I will make a choice, happy over sadness. I am responsible for my own happiness. As they say, "It comes from within," and I don't have to look to people, places, and things to make me happy. I am complete and whole within myself. I am happy that you share your journey with me. Without you, there is no me. I need you to remind me that it is a program of reflection. When I go to a meeting or to a site, I find myself reflected in the people who share their journey with me. ![](http://www.gifmania.com/Gif-Animados-Animales/Imagenes-Mamiferos/Ratones/Raton-Marron-69519.gif)

Oh Jo---There is a book I read every day in my quiet time called Daily Reflections and it is written by AA members for AA members. It first came out in 1990 and is an AA World Services published book. YES! I have always thought that the line that says "if we are painstaking about this phase of our development "we will be amazed" I have been so amazed at the way my recovery has gone over the past 32 years....I have had a lot of good & bad and a lot of ups and downs. I have not had to drink or use thru any of it and that is a major miracle!!! I am amazed!!!--- Bunnypie ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Just for today, I will read daily readings and meditations and start my day right with my God. Had the book Daily Reflections and gave it to a sponsee. When I remember it is Tuesday and when I wake up in time to go, I go to an "As Bill Sees It" meeting. They read from that an the Big Book. I donated my copy of ABSI and a Big Book to the group a few months ago. I have bought at least five Just for Today daily readings and gave them all away too. I had the 24 Hour Dail Readings too and passed it on too. I found that a lot of long-timers like that book. One guy with over 40 years had two elastics around his to keep the pages together. For some reason I never got into reading Daily Reflections daily, even though it is in the group of reading that the site is linked to. I am not saying it is not good, I have "In God's Care by Karen Casey and The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie," and they are what work for me. They are all good, I just don't seem to have the time or the inclination to read them all. Perhaps this is something I should look at. I know that I always felt better when I posted Food for Thought and Just for Today readings on a daily basis. I just had to stop spreading myself so thin. I couldn't be everywhere and be all things to all people. I had to do what was right for me. ![](http://3.s3.envato.com/files/1176214/wild-animal590.jpg)

I love the slogan "AA is a wrench that fits any kind of nut" Dr Bob said that AA members are like spokes in a bicycle wheel. We all come from different angles but we all end up at the same central hub which is staying sober. I really like that cause it draws a picture thought in my head. I can visualize a bike wheel and it makes sense what he is symbolizing. We all work the same 12 steps but everyone seems to have their own style of doing them. The idea of God as you understand him leaves a lot of "elastic" for people to get with the program. I truly think/feel that AA is a God inspired program!!!!----As Bunnypie Sees It

Just for today, I will give thanks. We finally got our rain and a thunderstorm. I am still hurting today, so hopefully more rain is on the way. I just want to get to my doctor's appointment and back before it does! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I need to remember to give thanks for the everyday things in my life, things that can be taken for granted. They are all my God's Blessings and I am glad to be able to share them with you. ![](http://angelwinks.ca/images/iq/qckitten337.jpg)

Just for today, I will listen to my body. It does have a message for me. The problemm is I often misinterput it. Not sure that is how it is spelled, typed it just as it sounded in my head. That doesn't make it right by any means, but it is the best I got in the moment. My thoughts are from my heart but I think my spelling is from my head. Just for today, I will learn to listen and listen to learn.

Oh Jo!!!!----I knew what you meant and there is a saying "close enough for rock & roll" I lot of times I will spell stuff "Foe-net-tic-ally" when I don't know how to actually spell. My spell check on my computer doesn't always work either so I go with "close enough for rock & roll" Beautiful roses, hugs, & kisses!!! Thanks for sending them! Just for today, I will ask for patience and tolerance. The two go together for me. I have heard nasty things about the shingles. I can remember a dear aunt years ago having them. The medicine field has comee a long way since then, but then so have I, it was about 60 years ago. I must always remember one day at a time. My Higher Power will see me through it. ![](http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk434/gorkut123/Decorated%20images/have-a-great-day.gif)
