A is for Ability. I have the ability to stay clean and sober if I work the program. I found that if I work for the program, it works for me. That ability to live a life clean and sober in today, is through the Fellowship of my choice and the God of my understanding. It will work for you too, if you choose to work it. We can't do it for you, but we are here for you to support you on your recovery road.

B is for BEWARE. This disease is cunning, baffling, and powerful. It tell you that you don't have. This time it will BE different. Be aware that people will sabotage, even your family and friends. If you have a problem, they may too, and they are not willing to look at themselves.

C is for Comfort. It is nice to feel comfortable in our own skin. What I needed to be mindful of was being too comfortable and becoming complacent. I was told that when I was comfortable where I was at, it was time to move on.

D is for Divine Orderly Good. DOG is GOD spelled backwards. It doesn't matter if your understanding of God isn't the same as or is backwards from everyone else's. You only have to believe in your own. Divine intervention worked for me!

E is for Escape. Don't substitute other drugs to escape reality. I was only 14 when I started to use my bed to hide from the world.

G is for Gratitude. May I show it by my actions. It is a verb not a noun. If you have gratitude, show it.

H is for Honesty. If I can't get honest with me, how can I get honest with you? Honesty is the best policy.

I is for Ingest. You can't crave a substance until such a time as you ingest it. It is an inanimate object, until such a time as you choose to not only pick it up, but to ingest it into your system. Remember that the drug is but a symptom of your disease, the problem is you.

J is for Joy. If you don't have joy in your life, what are you doing wrong? You are given a second chance at life, why are you not enjoying it. In Jamie Sams' book, the Hummingbird stands for joy. Many times you see them just hovering in one spot. It reminds me that sometimes, we have to just be, we don't always have to be dashing here and there.

K is for K.I.S.S. They use to say Keep it simple stupid. Don't like that word! I prefer Keep it simple sweetheart! or Keep it simple and spiritual.

L is for Limits. Don't put a limit on your life, by limiting your God by your beliefs. Open your heart, take off the rose coloured glasses, and take the plug out of your ears. You limit your recovery by having selective hearing, walking on a road so narrow that you can't enjoy the scenery on the way.

N is for Nothing. I can allow "Nothing" to stand between me and my God. Anything that I place between me and my God, becomes my 'god' of the day. Nothing is worth relapse. Never fear, God is near.

Q is for Quit. Quit beating up on yourself. You didn't get this way overnight, so don't expect to heal and get an instant cure. This isn't a quick fix program, it is a 12 Step Program.

R is for Rest. It doesn't mean rest on your laurels. That means: to be satisfied with your achievements and not to make an effort to do anything else: Just because you've got your degree doesn't mean you can rest on your laurels. I need to rest and listen to for the Good Orderly Direction my God would have me take in my life. A hymn I grew up with and sang many times: Leaning on the everlasting arms. library.timelesstruths.org/music/Leaning_on_the_Everlasting_Arms/

T is for Trust. Trust yourself, when you walk with your God, trust that He will guide your path and lead you in the way He would have you go. Last night when I turned on 'The Gaither Gospel Hour' I was surprised because it was a new show with Guy Penrod's new music as a soloist. In his first set of music, he sang, "Leaning on the everlasting arms." It is go ensuring and comforting to have a thought from yesterday's ABC shariing, followed up by affirmation that you are on tract and connected to your Higher Power. The same thing happened with "Food for Thought" posting for today. A thought I had earlier and posted on another site was affirmed by the reading for today. God does work in mysterious ways, His Wonders to preform.

U is for Use. Just for today, I don't have to use people, places or things. Today I can utilize the wisdom of the people in the rooms to show me a new way of living.
