A is for Action. I can know all the words, but if I don`t take the words of the pages of the literature or heed the words I hear at meetings, and apply them to my life, they are meaningless. I have to take action and put the program to work in my life.

B is for Blessings. They come in many forms. All we have to do is recognize them and reach out and accept them. Sometimes it is harder to receive than it is to give.

C is for Care. We share because we care. We put our life into the Care of the God of our understanding. That doesn't mean He does things for us, He just gives us the courage, strength, and guidance we need to get through things. We need to do the doing ourselves, and it is so much easier to do, when we take our God along with us.

E is for Everything. What do I need to change? How about everything? The person that was is no more. The person in today, has to change too. It is a day at a time. We have to trust the process.

F is Forget. As one of the promises says, "I will not regret the past or wish to shut the door on it. I don't want to forget the past, I want to learn from it, but I don't want to live and dwell on it. Sometimes it is best we do forget, rather than base our day on yesterday. We need to have faith in our Higher Power in today, that He will show us a new way to live.

H is for Healthy. Just for today, I will make healthy choices. I will stick with the winners and surround myself with healthy people. I will watch out for my health and well being, and feed my body, mind, and spirit. Just for today, I will reach out and connect with others. I will do the do things I need to do for my recovery.

I is for Identify. Identify, don't compare. We may have used different drugs, but we used for the same reason. I may not have done what someone else has done, but if I decide to take another kick at the can, I might end up there yet. I am grateful for the message that newcomer, people who are just coming back, and those that are having a hard time, but not picking up have to offer me. It isn't any better out there.

J is for Just for today. It is all I have. It is not good to wish my life away. I need to live in the moment, and let go of anything that isn't good for my recovery.

K is for Kindle. Kindle the Light within. This is a good time of the year to feed your spirit. Lots of candles and lights to feed the soul. Enjoy the freedom that the program gives us and the Fellowship of the Spirit that you find in the rooms of recovery.

L is for Leave. Leave your troubles behind. Share with a friend(s), and unload your burdens. You only have to take a portion of your worries home. Leave it with your God, and He will be there for you.

N is for "Nobody." Nobody can make me do anything, unless I give up my power. Nobody is responsible for my happiness but me. Nobody can hurt me unless I allow it. I must remember to not take things personally. I have to remember that the other person is in their "dis-ease," and it has nothing to do with me. I need to look at my part, if there is one, talk to my God and my sponsor, and make things right for me. Often it takes a change in attitude and a meeting, if I am allowing someone to occupy space in my head, rent free.

O is for Opportunity. Opportunities open up for us when we stay clean and sober. What is even better, we can walk through those doors of opportunity and with our Higher Power all things are possible.

Q is for Quit. Telling myself to quit with the Christmas gifs, but I am listening to Christmas music, and it is putting me into the Spirit of Christmas. Quit drinking over the holidays and have a safe and sober holiday.

R is for Rise. Take your troubles to your Higher Power, and you will rise above them and they won't drag you down, He will see you through them. Rise to the occasion. You have a second chance at life. Enjoy it.

S is for Sobriety. There is a difference between being sober and having sobriety. It is called the 12 Steps of AA. It means we just don't put the plug in the jug, we go about changing our ways and no longer acting out in our disease.

T is for Today. All I have is this 24 hours. A day can start any time. When I hit a rough patch, I can pause, say the Serenity Prayer and turn to my HP. One days thoughts, actions, experiences, and traumas, our God will see us through it if we trust in Him each day to show us the way.
