The doctor thinks I might have chronic lympotyic leukemia and though it is treatable, I am scared to death. My regular doctor thinks that it's 98% sure that I do have this and wants me to go to a hematologist to be sure. He will be making the appt. In the meantime, I just get to be scared that it might be true.

wow adagio...how scarey that must be! Yes...I will gladly pray for you. I pray you are in the 2% instead of the 98%.
Keep in mind...no matter what the results, there are many aweseome advances in medicine today. I know people with leukemia who ahve been in remission for a long time now.
You are in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Thanks Chris and Lin (((HUG))). Would you believe that I have a sponsor in cancer remission...she says that waiting is the hard part. I keep praying for that 2%, also...then my mind wanders to what kind of treatment I would have to endure if I was in the 98%...not good for my mental attitude right now.

Dearest Adagio,
My deepest prayers are with you. 12 Step your fears. Faith and fear cannot llive in the same house. Don't project and stay in the Now. I felt the same way when I found a lump. Fear of the unknown. Fear of what may be. Fear of being disfigured. Fear of it all. Relax and go with the flow. Just go for your tests and work your miraculous program. Remember God and keep Him with you always.
Love and God Bless Arlene

Not sure what kind of cancer that is but wish you the best. Fear of the unknown can paralize one. Like what Lilldee said about fear and love cannot dwell in the same house. Take it one day at a time and wish you the best.

*HUGE hugs*
Tough to be put in the 'hold' position. My creative imagination can make a horrid mess of things. I do hope you're taking time to talk with folks and letting them care about you.
You're in my prayers, Adagio. I'm currently in remission from ALL.....living a 'normal' life. (those that know me would question the use of the term 'normal'.)
Know that they'll 'stage' the CLL and may opt for no treatment at this time. A great number of folks are diagnosed with CLL and because it's not progressing, live normal lives without a course of treatment being necessary. Breathe, eh? And rest knowing there are folks who'll walk through whatever needs walked through with you.
You truly are in my thoughts and prayers.
*hugs*

((((((((((((Adagio))))))))))))
Ya know, sometimes I wanted more to NOT know than to know. Waiting on the answer was always harder for me than having it. I'm not a 'wait' kinda gal...LOL Patience isn't one of those things that come naturally to me.
I'll pray for G-d to keep gracing you with opportunities to love and be loved. Those are wonderfully healing, affirming things that sustained me when I was being chased by the fear that committee in my head tried to sell to me, lock stock and barrel.
*huge hugs* You'll continue to be in my prayers.

Dearest adagio, OK your worst fears came true. But remember what you said in your first post. It is treatable. Sure, no one in their right mind wants to be sick. I know your angry, upset, scared and sitting on your pity pot saying "why me?" I can't tell you why, but if ever there was a time to work your program now is the time! Release your anger and your frustration, go with faith instead of fear. When I found a lump in my breast I thought all kinds of crazy things. From biospies to disfigurement and on and on. When we are faced with the unknown the mind will play games with us to fill in the blanks. Technically it's called called confabulation. One way to get around this is to become your own best advocate. Learn everything you can about the disease. Medicines, therapies, doctors what options are available to you, all of it. The more your know the more comfortable you will be. Ask questions, and don't settle for a ho hum answer. The next thing beside knowledge is calming your fears. Pray , meditate do whatever it takes to calm your mind. I know it will be hard but try to relax. I only wish the best for you. My deepest prayers are with you. I am sending you one of my little angels to watch over you. Love you and God Bless Arlene

Thank you both. Yes, waiting is a very hard part for me too. I just wanted them to say yes or no, so I could go on with accepting it. (Patience doesn't come easily to me either...lol). The doctor said that it was a confusing kind of cancer. They can give me treatments to alleviate the symptoms, he said that you would think the patient would get a little better, but it has no effect on the survival rate and it's incurable. So mainly it's for me to try all kinds of support groups, the main medicine, alternative medicine..anything that looks as if it might help. An Al-Anon member who is in remission called me and told me to try everything. The doctors call her a miracle.
