The column is on sobriety now...and since I'm not AA i will have to skip it or post from a different angle. How about...
B is for BREATH. I am glad my husbands BREATH no longer smells of stale beer , whisky, mad dog, vodka, etc.

C is for Control. When I try to control my life and that of others, I am playing God. In order to maintain my sobriety (peace of mind), I have to let go and let God.

E is for Everyone. This program is for everyone. As a long-timer once said, "The tools of recovery fit anyone who walks through the doors of recovery." It is up to them whether they choose to pick them up and walk with them.

K is for K.I.S.S....some say that means keep it simple STUPID. I choose not to callmyself stupid and I say Keep it simple SWEETHEART.
( and it still feels funny to be posting on greatful sobriety when I never had to worry about being sober...I guess if I look at it as being greatful OTHERs are sober I can be OK. I respect a closed meeting and that's what I feel like posting on sobriety. I'll also try to see it as getting more NEW folks to post.)

L is for ..... Laughter
[/u] If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn't want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life. We try not to indulge in cynicism over the state of the nations, nor do we carry the world's troubles on our shoulders. When we see a man sinking into the mire that is alcoholism, we give him first aid and place what we have at his disposal. For his sake, we do recount and almost relive the horrors of our past. But those of us who have tried to shoulder the entire burden and trouble of others find we are soon overcome by them.
So we think cheerfulness and laughter make for usefulness. Outsiders are sometimes shocked when we burst into merriment over a seemingly tragic experience out of the past. But why shouldn't we laugh? We have recovered, and have been given the power to help others. [/u]

N is for New. Each day is a new beginning. I am grateful for the tools of recovery that allow me to learn new ways of living in today.
Sobriety is soundness of mind. I am grateful that I don't have to use people, places, and things to escape my reality in today.
