It was "Thanksgiving Day" . As usual, I was in the corner bar drinking.
I remember saying to the bartender "I shouldn't be drinking, Im an alcoholic". He replied "So am I" as he drank. Just then a voice came from down the end of the bar which stated "I just got out of 11th and Taylor" which was a dry-out joint.
I can still rember my question "then why are we drinking?"
No one had an answer...........but a miraculous seed was planted in me after all those years of slipping in and out of AA.
That was my last day of drinking - it was Nov. 25th, 1976.
Today is Nov, 26th, 2003 and I am celebrating 27 years of un-interupted sobriety.
My thanks to God, my sponsor, my sober wife and all the people like you guys and girls whom I have met on this "Journey Of Sobriety".
It was like walking a path throuh a forest, stumbling over rocks, on occasions bumping into trees and other times just sprinting along.
As I'm now in the autumn of my years, I can now see the whole forest..........and it's beautiful.........and what a great trip to get here!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Tiger

Thank you all for posting your clean and sober birthdays for me to put on our calendar here at EOR.
lildee I have brougth the month of Dec. up to date and if you can think of any thing else you would like to see posted just let me know.
You can look into the next month to come by clicking on lthe next month in line up top of the calendar. It is not a button you are looking for, you will see in large bold letters Dec. and on each side you will see in smaller letters on one side Nov, and the other side Jan. Just click on the month you wont to see and wait for the page to load, it is that easy.

It was late when I came on last night. The 21st of December was five years without a cigarette.
Last August 21st, I celebrated twelve years clean and sober, yet the longer I am in recovery, I am so aware this program is one day at a time. I have had cravings for cigarettes for two days.
Bellybutton birthday is too close! On April 1st, I will be 62. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
