No one really like to Change. It means breaking out the routine. Out of the Familiar. Out of what we know. Change, however, is necessary to Grow. To Learn. To Better ourselves. When we grow, learn, and better ourselves, we can be of service to others much more effectively. And when this happens, joy, love and gratitude will fill your soul!

"Instead of thinking outside the box, just get rid of it."
- Unknown
When you are trapped inside a box, you don't see to much on the outside. When you are on the outside, you are busy peering back into the box.
Just get rid of the box and let your imagination go! A free mind, is a grateful mind.

"Develop an 'Attitude of Gratitude'."
I have a secret weapon in my recovery tool bag - the Gratitude List. Oh I know, you've heard all about gratitude lists, but when was the last time you made one? Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed, stressed or in fear, the fastest way out is for me to make a quick list of 50 things I'm grateful for.
When I mention this to people, their first reaction is 50?! If 50 seems like a lot to you, too, it's just because you're not in the habit of making gratitude lists. The secret is to list the things you're grateful for that are centered on what you are feeling anxious or fearful about.
For example, when I'm in financial fear, I list all the things around finances I'm grateful for. These usually include that today I have a place to sleep; my rent is paid; the electricity is working (and it helps when I think of all the people who don't even have electricity!); I have money in my pocket; I've always earned money and did so yesterday or last week/month, etc. This works for every topic, and after you get started 50 comes easy.
Today my life is good; I'm appreciative and I know serenity because I know how to develop and live in an attitude of gratitude.

The miracle is not to fly in the air, or to walk on the water, but to walk on the earth."
- Chinese proverb
Be grateful and enjoy yourself for where you are without seeking the need to go elsewhere.

"If it's the ultimate game (the SuperBowl), how come they're playing it again next year?"
- Duane Thomas, Dallas Cowboys quarterback (Super Bowl VI)
How many times have you heard the expression, "Once in a Lifetime", or (in the case of today), something like, 'The Ultimate Game', or, 'There will never be another match like this?'
Really? Will you really only get an opportunity like this once? Ever? Just one?
This reminds me of the musical Ragtime lyrics in the song, "Crime of the Century" where a crime was being called, the Crime of the Century! (No surprise there, huh?) The funny thing is that the time frame for the musical is 1900-1917! There was still a lot of time left in that century for something worse to occur! Try to see things for what they really are and do not get caught up in the hype.

"Gratitude is our most direct line to God and the angels. If we take the time, no matter how crazy and troubled we feel, we can find something to be thankful for. The more we seek gratitude, the more reason the angels will give us for gratitude and joy to exist in our lives."
- Terry Lynn Taylor
When you are grateful for what you have, you will receive more! It is a simple idea. Think about it - chances are you do the same thing!

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who are alive."

Suppose you were to come upon someone in the woods working feverishly to saw down a tree.
"What are you doing?" you ask.
"Can't you see?" comes the impatient reply. "I'm sawing down this tree."
"You look exhausted!" you exclaim. "How long have you been at it?"
"Over five hours," he returns, "and I'm beat! This is hard work."
"Well why don't you take a break for a few minutes and sharpen that saw?" you inquire. "I'm sure it would go a lot faster."
"I don't have time to sharpen the saw," the man says emphatically. "I'm too busy sawing!"
- Stephen Covey
Sharpening the saw is about renewing yourself - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

Really like this! We can get so caught up in busy that we don't see that we are no longer as productive or connected to what is! We end up caught up in 'self' and we need to take time, rejuvinated the body, mind and spirit. I am grateful that a day can start any time!

"We are all here for some special reason. Stop being a prisoner of your past. Become the architect of your future."
- Robin Sharma
Always look ahead and move forward. As you move forward, you can consider and use your past to provide you with lessons that you have already learned.
Be grateful for having experiences in the past - they will make your present more enjoyable!

"Don't waste your time striving for perfection, instead, strive for excellence - doing your best."
- Sir Lawrence Olivier There is a middle ground between just "Good Enough" and Perfection. Good enough, never is. Perfection is rarely attained. Finding the sweet spot between them will fill your life with gratitude; you won't be settling for simply "good enough" and will not be wasting time trying to reach perfection. Spend time on the important things.

"The desire of gold is not for gold. It is for the means of freedom and benefit."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Are you grateful for the REAL things that you desire? Actually, do you KNOW what those things are?
Someone told me that he would be grateful if they had more money. I gave him a dollar. He was not happy, although he did laugh.
Do you want things, or do you really want to feel a certain way? Start by being grateful for the things you already have. Think about it...
